Today is the 60th anniversary of Warsaw's liberation; during the Warsaw Operation undertaken in mid-January, 1945, Warsaw, the capital city of Poland, along with the surrounding area, was liberated by forces of the Red Army and the 1st Polish Army of the LWP. Two days later a victory parade was held in Warsaw's center by the Polish troops to commemorate this event. Before Warsaw's liberation, the first provisional capital city in liberated Poland was established in July of 1944 at the town of Chelm; not long afterwards, thanks to the rapid progress of Soviet and Polish forces, it was subsequently moved to the city of Lublin which retained this distinct status until shortly after Warsaw's liberation. wolnapolska.boom.ru/index-LWP.html
